A Thousand Pieces of You (Firebird #1)

Every Day meets Cloud Atlas in this heart-racing, space- and time-bending, epic new trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray.

Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their radical scientific achievements. Their most astonishing invention: the Firebird, which allows users to jump into parallel universes, some vastly altered from our own. But when Marguerite’s father is murdered, the killer—her parent’s handsome and enigmatic assistant Paul—escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite can’t let the man who destroyed her family go free, and she races after Paul through different universes, where their lives entangle in increasingly familiar ways. With each encounter she begins to question Paul’s guilt—and her own heart. Soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is more sinister than she ever could have imagined.

A Thousand Pieces of You explores a reality where we witness the countless other lives we might lead in an amazingly intricate multiverse, and ask whether, amid infinite possibilities, one love can endure

I was pretty disappointed by this book; if you're looking for a book that highlights travel between alternate universes and seeing how they affect the main character then you should probably look for another book but if your looking for a romance/ love triangle that happens in multiple realities the you found this book for you

"I fell in love with one Paul. I fell in love with his unchanging soul. Does that mean I fell in love with every Paul, everywhere?"
This sentence would be a better summary then the one Goodreads provided.  I didn't get amazing intricate universes, I got four different places that I only know the basic information of, I also didn't get to witness countless other lives the characters lead I only got a teenage girl that was "in love".

My main problem was Marguerite, I spent most of the book incredibly frustrated with her especially when it came to anything Paul related;at first she was all for destroying Paul because he killed her father but as soon as he looked at her and looked shocked and sad she automatically forgave him and believed he had done nothing wrong even with no evidence of it just Paul's word, I hated how easily she believed him and got mad at Theo for doubting Paul.

Their romance overshadows everything else. Your in a world where you're a Russian Princess? Who care about finding out how that happened, Paul is here and he is a common palace guard who you love but can't be with. The world you are currently in is underwater? why ask for background info because Paul is alive innocent and he loves you!

I would love to read this book from Theo's point of view but only if he focuses more on the concept of the universe travel not if he focuses on clearly being Marguerite's sloppy seconds.

Even though I had issues with the book I have to admit I am in love with the cover.

Final Rating: 2.5 stars out of 5
